The material determines how easy the shoe is to keep clean:

Stubborn scuffs on the rubber sole often come off with a melamine sponge. Avoid chlorine bleach, as it can turn rubber and glue yellow. Let the shoes air-dry away from direct sunlight or radiators, because heat speeds up yellowing.
